NEW RELEASES

CONTEMPORARY ARTISTS

MARS RED SKY/YEAR OF NO LIGHT - SPLIT (12"/HEADSPIN)  Limited edition 45rpm 12" release -on black and coloured vinyl- featuring two bands from Bordeaux. On the A-Side Mars Red Sky comes up with the track 'Falls', followed by 'Black Beth', an exclusive recording by Year Of No Light. On Side B both bands team up for an intense 12 minute instrumental excursion into psychedelic stoner territory.

LOS NEGATIVOS - DANDIES ENTRE BASURA (LP/BUTTERFLY)  A sweet collection of '60s inspired, Spanish sung, pop gems from Los Negativos, recorded during the period 1986-2008. Influences include The Beatles' 'Rubber Soul' and 'Revolver' era, the psychedelic days of The Byrds and The Stones' 'Aftermath'. Deluxe edition on 180 gram vinyl, including postcards. Limited to 500 copies.

MARTINI KINGS - PALM SPRINGS SERENADE (LP/DIONYSUS)  At last! With over eight self-released CD's and gigs-a-plenty in the pocket, Los Angeles based jazzy-retro-exotica-bossa-nova-cocktail-lounge combo The Martini Kings makes its first appearance on the beloved vinyl format. Comes with great packaging and includes download.

NATURAL ASSEMBLY - ARMS OF DEPARTURE (LP/AVANT!)  The debut album by an upcoming London based dark synth-wave duo with industrial aspects. The perfect soundtrack for your last days on earth! For fans of a.o. Lust For Youth, Front 242, New Order...

WHITE HEX - HEAT (LP/AVANT!)  This Aussie duo takes influences from their native graveyard blues tradition, turning it into something new and minimal at once, perfectly oscillating between drugstore cowboy lush guitars and Tara Green's beautifully worn-out voice. This latest venture of Jimi Kritzler, who also is a member of the critically acclaimed Slug Guts, takes the post-punk of his main outfit's 2011 album 'Howlin Gang' a step further and resolves into something the duo likes to call "tropical goth".

HIRSUTE PURSUIT - TIGHTEN THAT MUSCLE RING (CD/COLD SPRING)  Created by Harley Phoenix and his musical partner, Bryin Dall, this is gay sex music that offers no apologies. Enticing rhythms combined with raw sex and a commanding, deep, resonate voice, Harley has transformed explicit instructions for serving his pleasure into a musical orgy that hits the gay community where it plays, the dance floor and the bedroom. Sleazy dance beats pound along at tempos that encourage carnal exploration, while sounds of ecstasy cannot be ignored.

60’s & 70’s & 80’s (RE-)RELEASES AND ARTISTS + OTHER OLDIES

HENRI GUEDON - COSMOZOUK PERCUSSION (LP/SUPERFLY)  Limited high-quality LP reissue (180 gram) of a cult West Indian Latin fusion LP. 'Cosmozouk Percussion' by Martinique's masterful percussionist Henri Guedon is great all the way through and includes 'Vulcano' and the equally cool jazzy guaguanco 'Negro Lucumi'. Wicked sounds!

PSEUDOCODE - SLAUGHTER IN A TINY PLACE (2CD/SUB ROSA)  A highly interesting release of improvised electronic music from Belgium, 1980-1982.

EXPECTED RELEASES

CONTEMPORARY ARTISTS

RIVER CITY TANLINES - COAST TO COAST (LP/MV50 RECORDS)  A spectacular mixture of garage rock, '80s style hardcore and pure pop. Memphis based River City Tanlines is comprised of members of Lost Sounds, Subteens, Mr. Airplane Man, and R.L. Burnside's backing band. On black vinyl, this is the European edition, released by Amsterdam's MV50 label.

TONS - MUSINEE DOOM SESSION, VOL. 1 (CD/HEAVY PSYCH SOUNDS)  The debut album by a killer band from Italy. Suitable for fans of Electric Wizard, Ufomammut, Unsane, Weedeater, 16, Church of Misery, etc... Limited deluxe CD-edition!

VULCANO - (BLACK) TALES FROM THE BLACK BOOK (LP/HIGH ROLLER)  In 2004 the legendary Brazilian thrash/metal band Vulcano returned with the album 'Tales From The Black Book'. This is the first time that this title sees a release outside South-America. On black and coloured vinyl.

GASKIN - EDGE OF MADNESS (LP/HIGH ROLLER)  Back in the heyday of the N.W.O.B.H.M., vocalist and axe slinger Paul Gaskin and his band released two critically acclaimed albums. Their blues tinged hardrock remained somewhat underrated at the time, but that very same style goes down remarkably well with contemporary heavy rock fans. Back together for more than ten years already, Gaskin and co. now deliver their fourth full length, the impressive 'Edge Of Madness'. Available on black and coloured vinyl (limited editions).

GASKIN - STAND OR FALL (LP/HIGH ROLLER)  A fine LP-reissue (limited editions on black and coloured vinyl) of their third album, originally released in 2000, when they had just reformed.

PAUL ROLAND - ROARING BOYS/SARABANDE (CD/SYBORG MUSIC)  A superb CD-reissue of 'Roaring Boys' and 'Sarabande', two highly rated albums by the unique goth-psych artist. Also includes six new songs, bringing the score to 20 tracks in total!

CLOUDLAND CANYON - AURELIUA (12"/GREAT POP SUPPLEMENT)  Cloudland Canyon follow up their acclaimed previous releases for Holy Mountain, Kranky and Not Not Fun with three astonishing tracks on 12" green vinyl. Yes, Cloudland Canyon continues to reach for the cosmos. Mastered by Spacemen 3's Sonic Boom, who also plays bass on Side B.

60’s & 70’s & 80’s (RE-)RELEASES AND ARTISTS + OTHER OLDIES

LIGHTSHINE - FEELING (LP/GARDEN OF DELIGHTS)  Though this album by an obscure German band dates from 1976, it offers at least as many influences from the psychedelic sixties (early Floyd!) as it showcases traces of the progressive era. Highly regarded by genre connoisseurs, Lightshine's sole LP now gets a deserved reissue on vinyl. An album with no weak moments. This reissue comes with a four page insert, featuring detailed band history, pix, and more. Nice!

KAREN NOVOTNY X - NOTHING HERE NOW BUT THESE RECORDINGS (LP/GREAT POP SUPPLEMENT)  An essential career overview release for anyone into late '70s electronic pop/minimal synth pioneers. Karen Novotny X was a short lived electronic project/trio that was operational in East London. A creative rush between the spring of 1978 and the summer of 1979 saw them recording a plethora of music primarily influenced by disco, a number of key Italian composers, Throbbing Gristle, Krautrock and the industrial sounds coming out of member Anna Bloom's hometown of Sheffield. And then there also was a healthy obsession for Donna Summer's 'I Feel Love'. An extraordinary LP, numbered to 500 copies on white vinyl, with hand stamped library inner bags and collage insert.

NEWS

SPRING RECORDS are about to release a couple of interesting 7"es. These include singles by Camden Town's very own country rockers ROCKINGBIRDS, LA's psych-pop darlings SCRAPS, Australia's SUMMER SUNS (produced by Scientists member Kim Williams) and MIGUEL ANGEL VILLANEUVA (ex-member of Brujos a.o.) who reinvents two tunes penned by Alan Gordon (of the successful songwriters duo Bonner & Gordon).

DOOMENTIA is another label that announced a number of upcoming releases. Expected are a split LP between Italian doom metal bands BUNKER 66 and BARBARIAN, a double LP by Bilbao based heavy rockers HORN OF THE RHINO, a one sided mini-LP by LAHAR, and LP's from MASTER ('New Elite') and MINKIONS.

CONTEMPORARY ARTISTS

INCOMING CEREBRAL OVERDRIVE - LE STELLE: A VOYAGE ADRIFT (CD-LP/SUPERNATURAL CAT)  reviewed by Patrick Bruneel for Gonzo Circus (translated excerpt)  Aggressive, technical, mathematical, looking for a balance between Mastodon-style metal and Italian '70s prog...

DEAN ALLEN FOYD - SOUNDS CAN BE SO CRUEL (CD-LP/CRUSHER)  reviewed by Carry Munter for Carry's New Underground Music (translated excerpt)  ...this album is definitely worth a spin.

DAT POLITICS - BLITZ GAZER (CD/SUB ROSA)  reviewed by Oscar Smit for Gonzo Circus (translated excerpt)  ...maybe the sharp edge has vanished after nine albums, but it's still great to dance and jump to their crooked electro pop, full of stubborn rhythms and analogue bleeps.

LULL & BETA CLOUD/ANDREW LILES - CIRCADIAN RHYTHM DISTURBANCE... (CD/COLD SPRING)  reviewed by Peter Vercauteren for Gonzo Circus (translated exerpt)  This basically is a re-release of a split 3-inch between Lull and Beta Cloud, but here Andrew Liles steps on board for some radical remixing.

GIN LADY - GIN LADY (CD-LP/TRANSUBSTANS)  reviewed by Winston for Lords of Metal (translated excerpt)  ...a band that operates in the classic hard rock tradition, not too sophisticated, straight forward, and with a sense of melody and power.

EVOL - EVOL (LP-CD/GEARFAB)  reviewed by Paul Rigby for Hi-Fi World (excerpt)  ...psychedelic folk with some beautiful harmonies that evoke the sound of the early Byrds.
