RING is probably one of the most ancient japanese progressive rock bands: the tapes of "The Empire Of Necromancers" were initially recorded live during the summer of 1975! RING
included the famous keyboardist Takashi KOKUBO, but in this band he played drums and was the singer (japanese lyrics, but the music was mainly instrumental). "The empire of necromancers" is a rock symphony in five parts, based on nice melodies and refined arrangements. The music is in a
vein near FOCUS, GREENSLADE, PINK FLOYD, and sometimes ELP with also classical influences like J.S.Bach. Two bonus tracks are included, recorded in 1977-88, these are synthesizer
works by KOKUBO, with help from a second synth player and a guitarist. A nice, sophisticated music, and also a musical document about the early japanese progressive music!
