The Roadside Graves are a criminally overlooked New Jersey band, brimming with alt-country genius from beginning to end. The Roadside Graves combine folk, country and rock with timeless melodies, gorgeous harmonies and arresting songwriting along the lines of Dylan, Springsteen, The Grateful Dead, and The Band, while retaining an independent spirit of their own, surpassing the confines of Americana with honest, good, godamn countrified rock'n'roll. Their sound has been likened to a blend of Felice Brothers, Son Volt, Dylan's Rolling Thunder Revue, Creedence and Los Lobos, although The Graves' seamless integration of guitars with electric piano and organ, along with Gleason's intense vocals (and the group's Jersey roots), often leads to comparisons to Springsteen.
