A pivotal scene in the 1993 action-thriller In The Line Of Fire sees disillusioned aging U.S. Secret Service Agent Frank Horrigan (Clint Eastwood), still troubled by his inability to save JFK, is determined to prevent an assassination bid on the current President. Having returned to his darkened, empty apartment, in full view of the camera, Horrigan slips a CD of Kind Of Blue into his player and immediately the slow, haunting strains of Miles Davis's All Blues breaks the silence. As it transpires, all five selections that comprise the iconic Kind Of Blue collection have found their way onto individual movie and television soundtracks. And are featured on this compilation. However, the roots of Kind Of Blue can be found on the soundtrack that Miles recorded in just one evening for film maker Louis Malle's 1957 French language noirish thriller Ascenseur pour l'Echafaud (Lift To The Scaffold). Today, this stands as one of the most innovative albums in Miles's entire career.
