PSYCHEDELIC/PROGRESSIVE/FOLK

BAD SUGAR RUSH - LIAR/PUSH ME (7"/H42)

The Bad Sugar Rush's rhythm section consisting of scene veteran Peter Zettl on drums and Minyeong Fischer on bass provide much more than only a meat-and-potatoes solid foundation for Josko Joke-tovic's (Glanville) intricate guitar work. Sure, the guys often allow for the guitars to simply slap a big bunch of grated cheese over their perfectly-made lasagna. But that would be only half as great if there wasn't some next-level interaction going on with intertwining bass, guitar and drum patterns showcasing a tightly knit unit who know what they're doing and have something to say. Soaring above all that are the powerful vocals of René Hofmann (Wight, Glanville), lending a definite soul feeling to the music while never losing their rock'n'roll edge - definitely a match made in heaven. Or in the devil's kitchen, who knows...

CHILD OF PANOPTES - WALK WITH ME/GUESS I WAS DREAMING (7"/SOUNDFLAT)

Child Of Panoptes is a band from France which musical style embodies the psychedelic era of the late '60s and early '70s embracing British freakbeat, popsike and American garage-psych-rock.

VELVET ATTACK - (SHE'S A) HUMAN DOLL/DR. JESUS GONZALEZ (7"/SOUNDFLAT)

Velvet Attack is a '60s style indie-rock-group from Dortmund, Germany formed in 2018 and they play velvet popsike melodies boosted by prog/kraut guitars. The members have been part of different musical projects like Jelly Planet, Damo Suzuki Band, Astra Kid and The Cheeks, which is reflected in their multi-layered, refined sound.

ASTRAL MAGIC - VISIONS OF INFINITY (LP/SPACE ROCK)

Astral Magic is a Finnish psychedelic spacerock project featuring Santtu Laakso (Dark Sun). The material on this debut-album is heavily inspired by Hawkwind and the Spirits Burning Project. There are guest appearances by a.o. Martin Weaver (ex-Dark and Wicked Lady) and Scott Heller. This 180-GRAM MARBLE VINYL edition is limited to 250 hand-numbered LP's including a download.

BLASTING ROD - III (LP/GLORY OF DEATH)

Blasting Rod's long awaited third chapter! Fuzzed out psychedelic atmospheres and hard rock grooves from Japan. Comes on random coloured vinyl.

MERGERS - THREE APPLES IN THE ORANGE GROVE (LP/SOUNDFLAT)

After three singles released digitally, here comes the eagerly awaited third album by The Mergers. After releasing two acclaimed albums, the band maintains their songwriting and arrangements strongly influenced by British rock- and popculture, dream pop, freakbeat and psychedelic moods. It even has some Britpop influences in the vein of Oasis.

SOLANACEAE - SOLANACEAE (OXBLOOD) (LP/HEIDRUNAR MYRKRUNAR)

Repress on oxblood vinyl, limited to 300 copies. Solanaceae is the creation of Kim Larsen, which portrays a more psychedelic folk feeling than usually put forth in his :Of The Wand & The Moon: project. However the unmistakable voice and songwriting is still Kim Larsen's, which probably leaves this album as close to an :Of The Wand & The Moon: album without being that. The album features 13 songs with themes of magick, woods and mysteries, and are mainly written and performed by Kim Larsen with kind help and appearances by Chelsea Robb (Arrowwood), Pythagumus Marshall (Novemthree), Michael Laird (Unto Ashes), John van der Lieth (Sonne Hagal), Fenella Overgaard (:Of The Wand & The Moon:), Vincent Farrow (Solblot) and Anne Eltard who also appeared on the first :Of The Wand & The Moon: album.

DR SPACE - LOST IN THE TIME SPACE CONTINUUM (CD/SPACE ROCK)

Released as a very limited edition CD (100 copies) is a far-out, synthesizer fueled, 7-track release from Dr Space, known from Oresund Space Collective, Black Moon Circles and Doctors Of Space.

GARAGE/BEAT/SURF/ROCK’N’ROLL

FABULOUS HEYDAYS - LADIES & GENTLEMEN (LP/SOUNDFLAT)

The Fabulous Heydays are a 5-piece international band with members from Australia, the Netherlands and Greece. Fans of pure rock'n'roll or garage music should check 'Ladies & Gentlemen', because this band knows how to unleash three-chord brilliance through exciting riffs, soulful singing, killer beats, vintage organ sounds and bad-ass basslines.

HECK - HECK YEAH !! (LP/SOUNDFLAT)

'Heck Yeah!!' is the second album by the Dutch '60s style garagepunk-trio The Heck. Musically the band still moves somehere between The Sonics and Reigning Sound, with a touch from The Hives as well, while never losing their main focus: writing future sixties pop classics, served with the power and intensity of punk.

RADIO DAYS - RAVE ON! (LP/SCREAMING APPLE)

'Rave On!' is the fourth album from the Radio Days and features ten powerpop gems. Taking the Paul Collins' Beat and The Plimsouls as references, the songs of the album take a metaphorical trip from the scratching '70s riffs, back to beatlesque vibes, moving across the British pub-rock of the Elvis Costello-era and through the '90s powerpop of Teenage Fanclub and Weezer.

SHUTDOWN 66 - COME ON GIRL GIMME HALF A CHANCE (LP/SOUNDFLAT)

Melbourne's neo-garagepunkers Shutdown 66 are back. Again they present their own sound, strongly influenced by '60s garagepunk and British R&B. Their fourth album 'Come On Girl Gimme Half A Chance' is now available, for that dose of stomping garagepunk with a strong R&B-infusion, flaunting dirty fuzz-guitars, farfisa-organ and harmonica, and Nicky Shutdown's screaming voice.

POP/ROCK/WAVE/NOISE

DATBLYGU - PYST (BLACK) (LP/HATE)

Limited reissue of the second album of this Welsh experimental rock group, never reissued on vinyl and really hard to find (and/or expensive!) in the original version (out in just 500 copies) from 1990. Including the very rare original insert issued at the time in early copies only! Datblygu is one of the greatest well kept secrets of the DIY '80s (post) punk sound (like The Fall, The Swell Maps). They're now highly regarded by a new generation of bands (Wales' modern icons like Gorky's Zygotic Mynci and Super Furry Animals talk about Datblygu as their most important influence!) and very very similar in their sound to some '90s bands inspired by them (i.e. the Country Teasers!). Limited to 300 copies on black vinyl.

DATBLYGU - WYAU (BLACK) (LP/HATE)

Limited reissue of the first album of this Welsh experimental rock group, never reissued on vinyl and really hard to find (and/or expensive!) in the original version (out in just 500 copies) from 1988.

SALVADOR, HENRI - HOMME STUDIO (LP/BORN BAD)

A pop star who turned his back to show business to become an independent artist, steered by the revolutionary ideas in 1960's France; these are the outlines of Henri Salvador's unusual musical career. It made him into a star then led him to entirely dissociate from the record industry, preferring to compose music in his living room. At the age of 50, Salvador starts experimenting with synths and drum machines, multi-track recorders and altered voice collages. Salvador has had a time span of seventy years of creating music, producing some thousand tracks in all kinds of styles. Sometimes associated to ye-ye singers, he's also known to have brought rock to France in 1956, with Boris Vian. In the course of time, he would become a multi-talented artist: jazzman, crooner, entertainer, composer, guitar player and childrens' songs singer. Although his career almost faded into obscurity in the 1980's and 1990's, he made a brief comback in the 2000's, before Salvador passed away in 2008. This compilation brings together a number of tracks from 1969 to 1978, representing just a short era from his impressive career. Including extensive liner notes and download code.

PUNK/HARDCORE

SERFS - SERFS EP (7"/MARKET SQUARE)

Coming on 7-inch are three tracks by the group from Cincinnati. On offer is a warped mix of blistering DIY punk and dystopic synth-punk outsiderism. The A-side features two short, sharp attacks coming on like a long-lost Dangerhouse release while the song on the B-side has an eerie atmosphere akin' to Martin Hannett's Factory Records productions.

INDUSTRIAL/EXPERIMENTAL/NOISE/NEOFOLK/GOTHIC

ICE 9 - THE FIFTH COLUMN YEARS (2LP) (LP/VINYL ON DEMAND)

This double LP release contains the albums '1981' and 'P.F.L.P.', originally released on cassette. Ice 9 was a collective centered around Onnyk (Yoshiaki Kinno) a well-known artist on the field of Japan's underground and free improvisation, he acted as 'The Fifth Column', and was also called 'Daigoretsu' in the mid '70s to '80s.

MUSLIMGAUZE - JACKAL THE INVIZIBLE (2LP) (LP/STAALPLAAT)

Listeners who know much of anything about Bryn Jones' work as Muslimgauze know that he was prolific in both his work and in the way he sent out his work to labels and other interested parties (it's one of the reason some of that body of work is still being sorted through and released 20+ years after his passing). Fittingly enough for an artist that feverishly productive and often taciturn to the point of frustration, he didn't tend to give much more information than handwritten track titles on the sleeve of a DAT. Why he would submit multiple copies of the same or similar tracks to those he worked with, often in totally different configurations, is now a permanent mystery, but it does lead to 'Jackal The Invizible', essentially a compilation of material from multiple other releases that Jones had also submitted at the time on its own DAT. All of the songs here were released at least 20 years ago (a few over 30!) and as with practically all Muslimgauze releases they were limited and/or hard to get ahold of now. 'Jackal The Invizible' is both a way to issue those tracks on vinyl as the Archive Series has been consistently doing, and in interesting look into how Jones would organize and sequence his albums. Limited to 700 copies. SIDE 1: 1. Degage 2. Extract 3. Fedayeen Bharboo Of Pakistan Railways 4. Resume And Shaduf Fatah Guerrilla 5. Kabul Is Free Under A Veil SIDE 2: 1. Abu Nidal 2. Hand Of Fatima 3. Algeciras SIDE 3: 1. Camel Abuse Does Not Egzist In Mogadiso 2. Anti Arab Media Censor Part 1 SIDE 4: 1. Old Bombay Vinyl Junkie 2. Opiate And Mullah 3. Turkish Sword Swallower 4. Jackal The Invizible

Originally conjured for the Operation Equinox US tour 2016 this album portrays a more intimate version and live feel of OTWATM's songs. The 2 versions of the tape featured different songs, but on this vinyl release all songs from the tapes have been compiled. Comes in printed innersleeves and in very deluxe bronze metallic foilblocked cover.

WINTER FAMILY - CHEVALIERS (LP/SUB ROSA)

JAZZ/AVANTGARDE

DIDDEREN, JO -& L'EQUIPE DE REVE- - OUR POINT OF VIEW (CD/INBETWEENS)

The third album from the Limburg jazz formation pays tribute to jazz legend Herbie Hancock. 'Our Point Of View' contains five own interpretations from the master, as well as one own composition. Solid grooves and accessible as always, with also a focus on the impressionist side of Herbie Hancock.

ELECTRONIC MUSIC/AMBIENT/D’N’B/TRIPHOP

DEUX CONTROL - SEX MIAMI (LP/HÖGA NORD)

This album by Deux Control is a smooth genre crossover paradise of 808s, Yamaha keyboards and deep mesmerizing vocals side by side with more hardcore synth elements found in bands like DAF or Nitzer Ebb. Deux Control is the act that got bumped from the 'Miami Vice' soundtrack last minute because being a bit to edgy for mainstream USA. They are the group that Giorgio Moroder tried to copy when he wanted to update his sound. Deux Control are the new rulers of psychedelic electric body-disco! Limited to 300 copies.

MODERN RUIN - UNEMPLOYMENT LINE DISCO (LP/HÖGA NORD)

With an Arturo Micro brute synthesizer put through psychedelic effects, Modern Ruin keeps the flame of Andrew Weatherall and Suicide burning through times of isolation and disarray. This synth wave/new wave experience of an album, released on LP on Höga Nord Rekords, sums up 2020 with its dark and cold sound. The title speaks for itself: 'Unemployment Disco Line' reflects the desperation in the sound and the reverb-drenched vocals in the back of the soundscape comes from deep within the Covid hole. Sick, fed up and restless! Drawing influences from masters like the legends above, Rowland S. Howard, Johan Balance + Peter Christopherson et cetera, this debut album by Modern Ruin sums up four decades of underground club music and no matter how long this pandemic goes on we are in "Nothing Blues" until the dance floors open again. Limited to 300 copies.
