Younger, Louder and Snottier "The Dead Boys' first LP was recorded March, 1977 at Electric Ladyland Studios in NYC. It was completed from start to finish in two and a half days. At the end of the third day, while Hilly Kristal (mgr), Genya Ravan (producer), Doug Whitman (engineer) and the band went to CBGB to celebrate, the young and then unknown assistant engineer, Bob Clearmountain, stayed behind to make a quick mix for the Boys to take back home to Cleveland. It was recorded over a cassette copy of Quadrophenia by the Who. Ten years later, I was about to tape over this cassette, thinking it was the Who... Surprise, surprise, surprise! The mix everyone had forgotten!!! They were shocked, pissed off and felt cheated! This was the way we sounded-LIVE!! In further investigation, no one saved a copy of this mix--no one!! This is the mix that I, We, the Dead Fuckin' Boys endorse. Stick this in your ear--if it's too loud, you're too old!" -- Stiv Bators.
