'Defrosted' picked up where Frijid Pink's eponymous debut album left off. That is, it rocks from start to finish. The band, led by lead guitarist Gary Ray Thompson cranks out blues-based rock and roll Motor City style for 50 solid minutes. The album contains the single 'Sing A Song For Freedom' which reached #55 on the charts, a disappointing follow up (chart wise) to 'House Of The Rising Sun' from their debut album which reached #7 in the summer of 1970, just months prior to the original release of 'Defrosted'.

FRIJID PINK - FRIJID PINK

From Detroit, Michigan this act was a fine example of the local hard rock and blues scene. They enjoyed three top 100 hits in the US, but their finest moment was their highly original rock arrangement of 'House Of The Rising Sun', which is especially notable for some superb ... read more »

ZIOR - EVERY INCH A MAN (IT)

ZIOR - EVERY INCH A MAN (IT)

Repress. Vinyl reissue of Zior's rare second album from 1972, which originally only appeared in Germany, though the band was British. Musically this is high quality solid progressive hardrock with (pseudo) occult leanings. Including the 6-minute epic highlight 'Angel Of The ... read more »

MAY BLITZ - MAY BLITZ (IT)

MAY BLITZ - MAY BLITZ (IT)

Repress! This was the band's debut release from 1970 originally on Vertigo in the UK. This is an excellent slice of hard/prog rock with mammoth guitar workouts from Jamie Black on long heavy tracks. Original pasted gatefold U.S. hardboard sleeve.

BUFFALO (AUSTRALIA) - VOLCANIC ROCK

BUFFALO (AUSTRALIA) - VOLCANIC ROCK

Repress! Buffalo were easily Australia's heaviest band in the beginning of the '70s. Less than a year after recording their impressive debut, these Australian hard rockers were back with more of that same frenzied, guitar-heavy rock that was making them living legends not ... read more »

CATAPILLA - CATAPILLA (IT)

CATAPILLA - CATAPILLA (IT)

Repress. Originally released in 1971 on Vertigo. Long tracks, not clearly structured, but with a unique and quite eerie atmosphere. 180 gram vinyl in original pasted gatefold hardboard cover.

SKIN ALLEY - SKIN ALLEY

SKIN ALLEY - SKIN ALLEY

Repress! Oppressive guerilla rock from these urban pariah-dogs. Recorded in 1969 with a heavy dose of MELLOTRON and despairing vocals. Skin Alleys first album is not only their best, but also among the most interesting in the whole panorama of British progressive rock.

SPRING - SPRING (2LP)

SPRING - SPRING (2LP)

Repress! Here it's difficult not to run out of superlatives, as this sole album of a bunch of relative unknowns beats almost everything in the UK progressive field. Side one is a sheer delight with natural, yet deeply moving melodies over a background of lavish but tasteful ... read more »
