The German fusion group Sunbirds was founded by jazz musicians Klaus Weiss (drums) and Fritz Pauer (keyboards) in Munich in 1971. They were joined by Ferdinand Povel on flute, Jimmy Woode on bass and world-famous guitarist Philip Catherine. Soon after they started the band signed a contract with the then newly-founded BASF label, and the LP was released late '71. The two as yet unreleased bonus tracks were recorded during the sessions for the LP.
