"San Diego's only psychedelic cops" - this is how this brilliant Californian band presented itself on the promotional posters. Psychedelic they certainly were, though perhaps they might better be described as a British influenced garage-psych/freakbeat band. They recorded a demo LP back in 1968, in a plain white cover, which is a top rarity only to be found in the houses of a few of the most fanatical collectors. Unavailable on vinyl for some time already, here's a welcome new reissue of this powerful organ and guitar driven garage rock beauty. Pressed on 180-gram vinyl and presented in a silk-screened fabric bag with insert. New liner notes courtesy of Clark Faville.

MUNSON, ALAN - GOOD MORNING WORLD

Alan Munson, the songwriter of Cooley-Munson duo, continued the folk-rock way. It took him some time, but in 1975 he was ready for what is (for him, and for me too), his best 70s work. Incredibly, "Good morning world" was only released in cassette, and in a ... read more »

FLIPPER'S - PRONTO VIVEREMOS UN MUNDO MUCHO....

One of Colombias better known 60s & 70s groups is Los Flippers. But few people outside Colombia knows about this wonderful 1973 album they did. Its probably because it was self-released by their leader Arturo Astudillos own label rather than the bigger labels they used ... read more »

PIG RIDER - THE ROBINSON SCRATCH THEORY (2LP)

Pig Rider was formed in Kent, UK, in the late '60s by John Mayes and Colin Kitchener. With a lil' help from some friends they recorded and self-released a series of acetate only psych-folk albums in the mid-'70s ('Heterophonies', 'Bloody Turkey Sandwiches'), which are prime ... read more »

SAVARIN, JULIAN JAY - WAITER'S ON THE DANCE

An here's the second Julian Jay Savarin album, released in 1973 on the short lived Birth label (a Youngblood imprint). Another stunning prog-rock masterpiece, still Hammond and keyboard/mellotron dominated but with a more hard-rock approach, featuring plenty of killer ... read more »

GALLERY - THE WIND THAT SHAKES THE BARLEY

Reissue of one of the rarest albums from the UK's '70s folk underground, originally released on the legendary Midas-label. On offer are haunting medieval atmospheres in the 'Wicker Man' vein, with serene male-female vocals and beautiful violin playing which brings to mind ... read more »
