With their smash hit 'Please Mr. Postman' high in the US charts (both R&B and pop), Motown's Berry Gordy came up with the idea to have THE MARVELETTES cashing in on the twist craze. The single 'Twistin' Postman' became a success, hitting the Top 40 pop and Top 20 R&B, but the rest of the album 'Smash Hits Of '62', here reissued as a NICE PRICE CD, features cover versions of hits by Bruce Channel, Roy Orbison, Sam Cooke and Elvis Presley, among others. A year later the album would be repackaged and titled as 'The Marvelettes Sing'.
