issued as a one-time pressing of 2000 copies, 150 gram LPs.
Following in the snow tracks of When I See The Sun, Numeros massive, near complete Codeine overview, comes What About The Lonely, an eight song LP recorded at the groups live zenith. Captured direct from the mixing board at a stop on Codeines November 1993 swing through the Midwest opening for Mazzy Star, the album finds the trio of Stephen Immerwahr, John Engle, and
Doug Scharin running through their hits at Chicagos notorious Lounge Ax for a crowd of chatty 120 Minutes fans. Gastr Del Sols David Grubbs joins for two songs on guitar, slinking on and off the two foot stage with little fanfare, but leaving an indelible mark on the performance.

Also available: WHAT ABOUT THE LONELY (CD).

ROKK - I WANT TO LIVE HIGH

ROKK - I WANT TO LIVE HIGH

A debut album that never was, Rokk's 'I Want To Live High' is that rare misshapen pearl clenched tightly between the shells of a music industry shucked long ago. Too soulful for its disco-era release date, the sextet's 1976 Tollie-issued 45 'Patience' (as featured in ... read more »

RUPA - DISCO JAZZ

Barely disco and hardly jazz, Rupa Biswas' 1982 LP is the halfway point between Bollywood and Balearic. Tracked in Calgary's Living Room Studios with a crack team of Indian and Canadian studio rats alike, 'Disco Jazz' is a perfect fusion of East and West. Sarod and ... read more »

24-CARAT BLACK - GONE: THE PROMISES OF YESTERDAY

The album 'Ghetto: Misfortune's Wealth' is seen as 24-Carat Black's first and final chapter, barely a footnote in the well-documented history of Stax. 'Gone: The Promises Of Yesterday' features 6 tracks, recorded in the first half of the '70s and meant for a second LP which ... read more »

SHADES - SANTA CLAUS IS COMING TO TOWN

Originally released in 1966 by Indiana's tiny Fujimo label and now back on vinyl, this is a great girl group rendition of the famous Christmas tune. The flip contains another enjoyable festive tune entitled 'Prancer's Got Some Red Spots'.

CLARK, SANFORD - THEY CALL ME COUNTRY

Propelled by his 1956 Lee Hazlewood produced hit 'The Fool,' Sanford Clark was already a rockabilly legend in his own right by the time he swapped his hair gel and switchblade for a pair of cowboy boots on 'They Call Me Country'. Recorded between 1965-67 and originally ... read more »

CAVE DWELLERS - RUN AROUND (2X7")

CAVE DWELLERS - RUN AROUND (2X7")

Recorded in 1967 at Chicago's Universal Studios and laboriously laden with Buckinghams-style horns and strings, the Cave Dwellers thought theyd locked their first hit down. Given just a few minutes to produce a B-side, the quintet unleashed their primitive and ... read more »
