On double-vinyl, this is the 2015 album from GOATSNAKE, with nine anthemic songs and each of the four members in top form. Pete Stahl's vocals have never sounded so good, the rhythm section (drummer Greg Rogers and Scott Renner on bass) is the driving force on each track, and Greg Anderson's guitar riffs are heavier than ever before. On the album's intro we hear the acoustic guitar of David Pajo (Slint, Aerial M, Papa M) and there also are parts with piano, violin and female vocals. Though 'Black Age Blues' sounds familiar, nothing here is a repetition of what we've heard before, as GOATSNAKE continues to refine the timeless, ultra-heavy rock that they are infamous for, surpassing even the highest of expectations.
