Great exotic psych/prog sounds from Anatolian musician EDIP AKBAYRAM, backed by the awesome band DOSTLAR! A collection of B-sides from hard to find 45s that never made it onto the albums during the singer's psychedelic period. Akbayram glued together disparate arrangements that combines noteworthy analogue synthesizers with mystic poetry from hundreds of years ago. Anatolian melodies with western touches, like breakdowns for cosmic whispering, slammin' organ, or wild phasing effects on folk instruments. Comes with remastered sound and an insert featuring photos and liners.

Also available: SINGLES OVERVIEW 1974-1977 (CD).

AKBAYRAM, EDIP -& DOSTLAR- - NEDIR NE DEGILDIR?

As Turkey's political factions turned more and more violent in the late 1970s, Buscemi-eyed Edip Akbayram was nearly beaten up by rioting audiences for daring to sing about rural points of view that were naturally critical of Istanbul's political leaders. This second album ... read more »

AKBAYRAM, EDIP -& DOSTLAR- - NICE YILLARA GÜLÜM

The third album by Turkish psychedelic singer Edip Akbayram, originally released in 1982. This later album really ramps up the silly synthesizers. You'll hear whooshy '80s Rolands, vocals run through a harmonizer and tons of totally tubular bass popping, and it all makes it ... read more »

GROUP TITAN - ANATOLIAN BREAK DANCE

GROUP TITAN - ANATOLIAN BREAK DANCE

Turkish ancient melodies get an '80s electro-funk treatment on this obscure album, originally released on the Diskotür label in 1985. Probably the work of an "ad-hoc" studio band (nothing is known about the musicians), this is a delirious mix of exotic ... read more »

MOGOLLAR - MOGOLLAR

Makam madness gives way to instrumental prog on Mogollar's burned-out last album, released in 1976 by Turkey's Anadolu Pop heroes and now reissued. Mogollar was the band that never kept a singer for long, and yet even more than Baris or Erkin, the musicians consciously ... read more »

VAMPIRES - VAMPIRES UNDERGROUND

Where does a band of Indian guys in East South Africa even play, and how on earth would they end up with fuzzy guitar riffs, wah-wah and funky drums? Riddles abound when you discover a platter like this one. Durban, famous for its beaches and also for beach signs that ... read more »

BUYUKBURC, EROL -VE EFSANELER- - HOP DEDIK

Years before Baris and even before the fame of Erkin Koray, Erol's flamboyant outfits and spontaneous behaviour brought a youthful, pop-oriented world to Turkish audiences. Here's a reissue of his first proper album from 1976. While not exactly psychedelic, Erol's album ... read more »
