DANDY, TREVOR - DON'T CRY LITTLE TREE

DANDY, TREVOR - DON'T CRY LITTLE TREE

A gentle album full of consoling tunes, more or less in the vein of Cat Stevens' 'Morning Has Broken', but with a bit more soul (although this association might be caused by the insistent use of piano on this record). This ultra-rare pearl of funky gospel music was the ... read more »

HOWE, CATHERINE - WHAT A BEAUTIFUL PLACE

HOWE, CATHERINE - WHAT A BEAUTIFUL PLACE

Produced by legendary jazz pianist Bobby Scott, here's a pastoral blend of English countryside folk & London orchestral pop, not unlike Nick Drake's 'Bryter Layter' or Bridget Saint John's 'Songs For a Gentle Man'. Originally released on Reflection Records in '70, the ... read more »

MEDUSA - FIRST STEP BEYOND

MEDUSA - FIRST STEP BEYOND

Chicago's reputation will forever be tainted by the horn-ravaged corniness of their eponymous band. Medusa's 'First Step Beyond' could have forever altered the perception of Chicago rock history had it managed to make the leap from tape to its destined vinyl pressing. ... read more »

WEE - YOU CAN FLY ON MY AEROPLANE

WEE - YOU CAN FLY ON MY AEROPLANE

This '70s LP, recorded in Columbus, Ohio and featuring one Norman Whiteside, is a genuine undergroud soul cult classic, financed by the world of street prostitution(!). The remarkably well performed music is firmly ensconced in 'Innervisions'-era Stevie Wonder, with nary a ... read more »
