RESEDA, RONALDO/ROBSON JORGE & LINCOLN OLIVETTI - E NOVAMENTE MAS QUE NADA/GINGA

Here's a mid tempo boogie double header from Brazil. 'E Novamente Mas Que Nada' is the opening track from Reseda's 1979 album on Som Livre. An ultra catchy vocal hook, boogie guitars and synths lead into a piano and cuica breakdown and horns to finish. It's one of the ... read more »

SODRE, CARLOS - CIUMEIRA/RASGA TEU VERSO

Back on vinyl, this is a killer double sider of uptempo vintage MPB samba jazz from Carlos Sodré, originally released in 1965 as a 33rpm compacto 7-inch single on the Copacabana label.

SANTOS, SONIA/MARCIA MARIA - MARIO/OH! MAN

Originally released in 1974, this quirky samba-funk bomb with tripped out synths, wah-wah guitar and horn stabs from the great Sonia Santos gets reissued on 7-inch. And it's backed with another great Brazilian tune, Marcia Maria's 1978 AOR/Rio-funk slow-jam 'Oh! Man'!

VINHAS, LUIZ CARLOS/O SOM DE L.C.V. - TANGANICA (TAPECAR VERSION)/TANGANICA

Side A of this 7-inch features a killer Latin-Brazilian dance floor fusion, heavy on the horns and piano. It sounds like a Tito Puente workout, with Brazilian backing vocals floating over the top. The AA side features the album version of the same song. This sounds much ... read more »

OS BRAZOES/TIM MAIA - CAROLINA CAROL BELA/E NECESSARIO

Side A is a psychedelic cover of Jorge Ben's all-time classic 'Carolina Carol Bela'. Very little is known about Os Brazoes except that they formed in Rio de Janeiro in 1969 and backed Gal Costa during her early tropicalia years. The front man of the band is Miguel de Deus. ... read more »
