'EL UNIVERSO PARALELO DE POLIBIO MAYORGA 1969-1981' - "When we first started Analog Africa, some 20 years ago, the idea was not to bang out one Afro-funk release after another... no, the idea was to take you with us on our musical safaris as we set out on countless journeys to discover new musical worlds. Our most recent hallucinogenic trip takes us to the Andean city of Quito, the capital of Ecuador, and the source of our 37th compilation 'Ecuatoriana - El Universo Paralelo de Polibio Mayorga 1969-1981.' It was here that we came across the music of Polibio Mayorga, one of the mythical pioneers of tropical psychedelia, who, in the 1970s, assigned himself the task of modernising the ancestral rhythms of his region - Huaynito, Sanjuanito, Albazo - using the Moog synthesiser and the latest in electronic technology.
