Flower Flesh

Duck In The Box

The Flower Flesh project began in 2005 as an idea of bassist Ivan Giribone and keyboard-player Alberto Sgarlato. They wanted to create a band with an original and unmistakable style, but without rejecting the inevitable influences from the whole story of progressive rock, from the '70s (Genesis, Yes), to the '80s (Marillion, Iq), the '90s (Magellan, Porcupine Tree, Spock's Beard) and today (Tangent, Riverside and many others), with slightly harder sounds, like Dream Theater, Kansas, Styx, Uriah Heep. Before this, Ivan played in some hard rock and heavy metal cover bands, Alberto with a Pink Floyd tribute band called Syd Of A Grape and a jazz-rock tribute band called Atollo K, playing tracks from Billy Cobham, Perigeo, Gong, Soft Machine and others. The first who joined the project was Andrea Fazio, drummer with a lot of various experiences in latin jazz, folk and blues. After some problems and some changes, at last the line-up found its stability only in 2008, with the join of the guitarist Marco Oliveri, formerly known for the nu-metal band called Kimeria and classically educated singer Eros Elvstrom Indimberge. So, with the jazzy touch of Andrea, the perpetual change of Ivan's basslines, the vintage sounds of Alberto, that try to re-create some Mellotron and analogue atmospheres, the polyedric style of Marco, able to travel from powerful riffs to soft arpeggios and romanthic guitar-solos, and the warm, sourrounding, deep voice of Eros, they found the "Flower Flesh-style" they were lookin' for.
