A German metal act would be hard put to bid their audience farewell in a more spectacular and glamorous style: 30 July 2009 saw Running Wild perform their final show as part of the legendary Wacken Open Air. A memorable night which allowed the band's career, having lasted more than thirty years, to pass in review both visually and musically. Master pirate Rock'n'Rolf Kasparek and his band, consisting of Peter Jordan (guitar), Jan Eckert (bass) and Matthias Liebetruth (drums), impressed an audience of almost 100,000 with a show which held, along with all the group's classics, a number of surprises in store. For the last time ever, Running Wild performed their very special pirate show, a blend of tough metal riffs, anthemnic melodies and wild seafaring romance.
